Death's Head Moth Print – Upcycled Frame

A beautiful and slightly macabre piece of natural history, featuring a reproduction of an 18th-century moth illustration from the historic German entomological work Der monatlich-herausgegebenen Insecten-Belustigung.

The original work was published in the 18th century and is renowned for its detailed copper-engraved illustrations of insects. This print reproduces one of those fascinating historical illustrations, featuring two Death's Head moths with wonderfully intricate markings, including their distinctive skull-like patterns.

The illustration is paired with an upcycled wooden frame, hand-finished in deep charcoal black with softly worn antique-gold highlights. The aged finish complements the old natural-history aesthetic of the print beautifully.

A wonderful addition to a cabinet of curiosities, Gothic library, dark academia study, Victorian-inspired interior or nature lover's collection.

The illustration is a modern reproduction of a historical artwork; the frame is an upcycled piece and has been individually hand-finished.

About the Frame:

This artwork has been carefully presented in a unique upcycled frame. Rather than using newly manufactured materials, I lovingly source and transform pre-owned frames, giving beautiful objects a second life while keeping them out of landfill.

Because the frame is vintage, reclaimed, or previously loved, it may show minor signs of age, character, or wear. Small imperfections, subtle marks, or variations should be considered part of its history and charm. While every frame is cleaned, restored, and finished with care, it may not possess the flawless appearance of a brand-new frame.
